Camp 2011

Well, I guess I should write a post about camp before it's New Year's! :P

Camp, as always, was lots of fun. I was sick in the weeks leading up to it, so I was freaking out about not being able to go, but luckily, I was able to!

We arrived on Monday, unpacked, etc., and frankly, I have forgotten the rest of the day until we had choir practice for the Confirmation and Communion Mass on Tuesday.
Tuesday started with going to the church early to have another practice before the real thing. And during the real thing, I am of the opinon that we sounded pretty good! :P After Mass we came back to the campsite and had a bit of a party for the people who were confirmed and who received their First Communion. On Tuesday night there was an epic trivia night run by Mrs R.
On Wednesday morning we all went to the local rock-pools to look at all the interesting little critters in the water. I particularly liked this starfish:

On Wednesday night there was a dance. It was lots of fun, and I helped my friend teach everyone swing dancing. Pretty much all the teenage boys were dancing, which, I think, is almost unbelievable! :P The most-played song of the night, I think it's safe to say, was Hey, Soul Sister, by Train. It was heaps of fun, but sadly I didn't take any pictures.... I was having too much fun dancing!

Thursday was sportsday, but I didn't participate in the actual competition, as I was, along with the other teenage girls, helping the parents with organization and such.

Thursday night was the concert night. Five of my friends and I performed a polished performance of assorted beer songs (shocking, I know!) and then later I sang "What is This Feeling" from the musical Wicked with another of my friends.
Then comes the all-nighter. It has become a camp tradition for the older teenagers to stay up all night on the last night. I've done it three years running. :)  Early in the night (relatively speaking), after the concert, there was a bonfire on the beach, with marshmallows, of course.
Here's a picture of the fire with the moon behind it:

After the bonfire, we all went back to the main hall in the campsite and ate ridiculous amounts of sugar to keep us going all night. There was, of course, the softdrink drinking competition, which is always great to watch.
This series of pictures of the guys' group photo is awesome (at least I think so):
Just so you know, they put him down quite gently; they didn't actually drop him, as the photos suggest! :P

Of course, once morning comes, almost everyone was almost asleep, but no one really got to sleep until everything was packed back into cars and the campsite was cleaned up. Then we said our goodbyes and headed home!

The next day, almost everyone got sick with a nasty tummy bug, but hey, I think it was worth it! :)

Things that have happened since my last post!

Well... since my last post, I have done a fair few things.

The main thing is probably getting sick. Yeah *lots* of fun. But while I was sick I read a lot:

I read Emma, Persuasion, and Northanger Abbey, by Jane Austen. I think Northanger Abbey is my favorite Jane Austen book. I also re-read the Hobbit, for something like the tenth time.
And, in anticipation of the final book in the Inheritance Cycle, I also re-read Eragon, Eldest, and Brisingr, for the second time.

I have been told by someone (he knows who he is :P) that I should read Ranger's Apprentice, so I'm waiting for the first book to be ready to pick up from the library.

I also read lots and lots of Peanuts comics. They are truly awesome. And my favorite character is Linus! probably because I can relate best to him.

Other than being sick, I went to a homeschooling camp, which I will post about soon, and I have completed a few new pieces of jewellery.

This bangle/cuff I made a few months ago. It's made out of silver, and I had lots of fun beating the heck out of it with a hammer, the effects of which you can see on the outer part of the bangle.

This ring is made out of silver, and the stone is called Spectralite... don't ask me what that is... I melted part of this, so I had to redo the part I melted... oops!

This necklace I made for a wonderful friend's eighteenth birthday! It's made out of silver, and it has a pink pearl in the centre.

And last but not necessarily least, is this bangle, which I made on Saturday. I cheated a little with this one, because the metal had already been made the right thickness and shape all i had to do was solder it into a circle, and texture, and polish it. I made it in about two hours!

State of Origin, among other things

I know it was a few days ago, but WOOHOO! GO THE MAROONS!!!!! It was an awesome game, but it was horrible to see the pain on Thurston's face when he got his knee bent backwards!!! ouchy!!

Last week I had a day working with the jeweller I am most likely going to do an apprenticeship with next year! It was really good, though I'm really going to have to work on my stamina so I can make it through a six-hour shift without dying. Well, without almost dying.

Yesterday I went to a medieval festival with some friends. It was pretty tiring, and I didn't bring enough money to buy me enough food to keep me going, and I didn't think to bring any of my own, so I was feeling pretty lousy by the end of the day! Though I must say that the German honey-something sausages were really yummy! I only had one, but I probably would have bought another had my money not run out! There was jousting, and archery, and swordfighting, but they were mainly spectator stuff: you couldn't really take part. There were lots of people, about half of which were in some sort of costume. Some of the costumes were absolutely awesome!
Oh, and in the leaflet with the timetable in it, there was an ad for a Pride and Prejudice picnic at the same place, so my friends and I are planning to go to that one too!!!

And lastly, on Friday night I went and saw Kung Fu Panda 2! At one part I was laughing so hard, I was really having trouble breathing!! And I also almost cried, actually I did cry, in one of the scenes. And I don't usually cry in movies! The last time I cried in a movie, it was Prince Caspian, when most of the soldiers get stuck inside Miraz's castle.... yeah that was sad... but I haven't cried in that scene more than once...... Wow, that was deep... I'm really rambling aren't I.... well it is 11 pm, so I should wrap it up here!

Stuff in general part 2

Well, I'm very pleased to say that Jonathan Thurston is playing in the next Origin! :) I was worried there for a second!!!

As far as my almost interview went, I've almost definitely got an apprenticeship lined up for me when i finish school, so long as the jeweller thinks I'm competent enough with tools and such! Yay!!!

Also, I have officially finished all of my grade 11 work!! i was a bit behind in English, but, all being well, i'm still on track for finishing grade 12 this year!!

Stuff in general...

Well, sorry I haven't posted in a while! I've been pretty busy!

First of all, I must say that I was very sad when the Maroons lost to the Blues last week, but it has been a while since there was a decider, so I'm looking forward to that! I'm not happy that Jonathan Thurston isn't playing, though! :(

Nextly (yeah, I just made up that word), I'm really excited/nervous about tomorrow: I have an almost interview for a jewellery apprenticeship!!! *high pitched squeal* ... ahem.... yeah, so fingers crossed that that goes well!!!

I have had a previous post about funny titles and authors... well i made up a few more:

Eloping to Scotland, by Gretna Green

Growing Vegetables, by Q. Cumberpatch

Hope you guys have a good week, and i'll keep you posted as regards the almost interview!! :)

One - Nil

Go the Maroons!!!!!

One down, two to go!!

I reckon the best try was the one scored by Jahral YowYeh! He just seemed to come in out of nowhere!

Did anyone else watch State of Origin last night?

State of Origin!

I know I haven't posted in a while. I'm having a bit of trouble thinking of things to write. But seeing as State of Origin is starting next week, I thought I'd change the colour-scheme of my page to be more Maroon! because, as you may have guessed, I go for the Maroons! And I'm very sad that Darren Lockyer is retiring at the end of this year, because he's like the best ever footy player!
